Family Visas - Parent Visa, Child Visa

The parent visa allows an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen to sponsor their parent to enter and remain in Australia .

The main parent visas are the: offshore parent visa (subclass 103), offshore contributory parent visa (subclass 173/143), onshore aged parent visa (subclass 804) and onshore contributory aged parent visa (subclass 884/864).

For the parent (or aged parent) visa category, the first instalment of the application fee is $1,705 (or $2,525) and the second instalment is $1,480. However, there is a waiting period of over 10 years for the parent (or aged parent) visa. For the contributory parent (or aged) visa category, the first instalment of the application fee is $1705 (or $2,525) and the second instalment is $34,330. The waiting period for the contributory parent (or aged) visa category is about 2 years. Amongst other things, you need to satisfy the balance of family test.

The child visa allows an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen to sponsor their children ("applicant") to enter and remain in Australia.  Amongst other things, the applicant must be under 25 and be dependent on the sponsor.
