Tourist and Working Holiday Visas

The main visitor visas are the: tourist visa and working holiday visa .

The tourist visas includes tourist visa (subclass 676), sponsored family visitor visa (subclass 679) and ETA (visitor) visa (subclass 976) and the working holiday visas includes working holiday visa (subclass 417) and work and holiday visa (subclass 462)

The tourist visas allows a person to visit Australia temporarily for a holiday, sightseeing, social or recreational reasons, to visit relatives or friends, or for other short-term non-work related reasons.  The visa is for short-term visits of 3 months and in certain circumstances can be extended to a maximum of 12 months.

Generally, to be eligible for a tourist visa, you must show a genuine intention to come to Australia to visit a relative or friend or for a holiday and for reasons other than business or medical treatment.  You or your sponsor must have sufficient funds to cover all your expenses for your stay in Australia.

The working holidays is designed for people who are aged between 18 and 30 years old to travel and work in Australia for 12 months. It allows the applicant to work for any employer for up to six months.
